Halloween in Dublin

Stay in the heart of Dublin

What’s on in Dublin for Halloween?

As many of you may know Halloween originated in Ireland around 2,000 years ago.

It is a time of celebration and superstition. It originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, on October the 31st people would light bonfires and wear costumes to scare off ghosts. When Irish people emigrated to America they brought with them their beliefs and thus 'trick or treating' and the modern Halloween as we now know it evolved.  There is no better place to be on Halloween than our capital city, it's deep cultural history and dark past makes it the perfect setting for your spooky Halloween Break.

We have complied a list of things to do over the bank holiday weekend in this buzzing city of ours.

1. The Gasworks Halloween Bash

If you’re looking for a Halloween Party, the Gasworks is hosting a spooky Halloween Bash on Friday the 27th of October. This is a fancy dress event. If you dress up you’ll get a free drink on arrival. Bring a group of 10 or more and get free finger food. A professional face painter will be there on the night so if you’re in a rush after work you can let them do the hard work!
There will be music, games, and fun from 6pm onwards.
There will also be prizes for the best dressed male, female and the most original costume. It will be a night filled with ghostly fun! Read more here

2. The Nightmare Realm

Are you ready to face your darkest nightmares and experience the artistry of fear?  The Nightmare Realm is Ireland’s most extreme scare attraction.  This is not your typical (boo) haunted house – there are no ghosts and goblins – the sets and live
creatures prey on your darkest fears and bring your nightmares to life.
Those brave enough to venture into the Realm are advised to keep their wits about them as danger lurks in every shadow. It’s a thrilling experience for all horror enthusiasts and Halloween fans.  It's on in the RDS from the 29th of September to the 5th of November.
