Strictly Ballroom: The Musical comes to Bord Gáis Energy Theatre nexy May and stars Strictly Come Dancing favourite Kevin Clifton.

Directed by Craig Revel Horwood, the show follows arrogant and rebellious young ballroom dancer, Scott Hastings (Kevin Clifton).  When his radical and daring dance style sees him fall out of favour with the Australian Federation, he must dance with beginner, Fran (Maisie Smith).  Together they find the courage to defy tradition and discover that to win, your steps don’t need to be strictly ballroom!

Jonathan Van Ness

This June, Jonathan Van Ness is coming to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre for one night only!

A star from Netflix’s Emmy Award-winning reboot series “Queer Eye,” where he shines as the hair guru and self-care advocate, and the host and executive producer of the Netflix series “Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness,” based on Jonathan’s popular podcast of the same name along with also having starred in the Emmy-nominated web series “Gay of Thrones,” a witty social commentary series recapping HBO’s “Game of Thrones”, Jonathan is one of many hats and not to be missed.

The King & I

June 27th - July 1st 2023

'The King & I' is a musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein, set in the Kingdom of Siam in the 1860s. The story revolves around the British schoolteacher Anna Leonowens and her relationship with the Siamese king Mongkut.

The greatest musical from the golden age of musicals – with one of the finest scores ever written including Whistle a Happy Tune, Getting to Know You, and Shall We Dance? – features a company of over 50 world-class performers and a full-scale orchestra.

July 13 & 14

Following a sell-out Irish tour in Autumn 2022, Michael Keegan-Dolan and Teaċ Daṁsa, come to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre with the mythic MÁM. For two nights only, this will be the sole opportunity to see MÁM in Ireland before it travels to the Venice Biennale Danza 2023.

Since its première at the Dublin Theatre Festival in 2019, MÁM has toured Sadler’s Wells, London, Perth Festival, Australia, New Zealand Festival of the Arts, Teatros del Canal, Madrid, Internationale Maifestspiele, Wiesbaden, as well as 14 venues around Ireland.

MÁM brings together the Irish traditional concertina player Cormac Begley, the European music collective, stargaze and twelve international dancers from Teaċ Daṁsa. MÁM is a meeting place between soloist and ensemble, classical and traditional, the local and universal.

With MÁM, Michael Keegan-Dolan and Teaċ Daṁsa have created another mythic yet timely production that acknowledges how life’s polarities can, on occasion, come together and find a resolution.

In the final hours of 14th April, 1912, the RMS Titanic, on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York, collided with an iceberg and ‘the unsinkable ship’ slowly sank.  It was one of the most tragic disasters of the 20th Century.  1,517 men, women and children lost their lives.

The Lion King
